(SPOT.ph) It’s no surprise that celebrities are bombarded with hateful comments online. Thanks to social media, they can be way more connected to their fans than ever—and unfortunately, that means a lot more space for folks to hate on them, too. And for female celebs especially, the hate is more often than not targeted towards their bodies and physical looks. So it’s no surprise either that they’ve clapped back and dropped some cool life lessons while they were at it. We round up just a few times celebrities were complete done with being body-shamed.

The time to stop body-shaming was yesterday; just ask these 10 Pinay celebrities:

Maris Racal

Meme Queen Maris Racal has one heck of an online following—which means she receives all kinds of comments, petty ones included. In one of her TikToks, she responded to a snide remark on her bra size with a cheeky reminder that it’s not the bra that has to be filled, but the brain–only there’s a bit of a hilarious twist! Racal doesn’t shy away from self-deprecating humor. Remember when she did the 34+35 dance but pretended to be shocked that she didn’t have anything to hold on to up-front? We stan a queen with this level of confidence.

Lovi Poe

Lovi Poe raised the flat-and-proud flag recently on her IG via a stunning hot-pink swimsuit to boot. She posted pictures of herself just working it and enjoying the sunlight over in the U.S., captioning it with a cheekily direct “Suit yourself if you think otherwise: #FlatAndProud. A little louder for the people at the back!” Poe even put in #LoviYourBody, a hashtag she uses to promote self-love on Instagram. The actress typically posts her pretty daring OOTDs online and yup, receives a lot of unsolicited comments regarding her cup size—but the queen clearly remains unbothered.

KC Concepcion

On the other side of flat-and-proud on the spectrum, KC Concepcion repped the curves in an IG post. Concepcion is no stranger to a whole lot of hate on Instagram, no matter what she posts it seems, so she decided to clapback with a post celebrating her body. She shared that she used to get body-shamed “for not having that Asian, stick-thin body” and was deeply affected by it. Then throughout the pandemic, “I realized life is to be celebrated, and enjoyed… Like, why would I choose to develop an eating disorder over losing all the extra weight healthily?” She even closed her caption with a fire announcement: “Serving you… a FILIPINA with LATINA CURVES. I’m here to celebrate all Filipinas who are like me.”

Gabbi Garcia

Gabbi Garcia has always been vocal against body-shaming. Back in 2018, she responded to negative comments on her swimsuit pics by posting another swimsuit photo to celebrate her body. “Yes, I have no boobs, I’m flat chested, [and] I have my own fair share of stretch marks. And I don’t see anything wrong with it,” she wrote. Now that’s a winning move.

Then recently during the pandemic, she fired back against haters who don’t understand the concept of body-changing-under-stress on Twitter. “Grabe anong petsa na guys, character development naman tayo diyan,” she said, complete with a frustrated Gordon Ramsay GIF.

Okay, so Coleen Garcia did get her abs more or less back two months after giving birth, but she gave a shout out to all the changes her body went through during and after pregnancy! She shared both unfiltered pictures during and post-pregnancy on her Instagram, sharing unfiltered photos of the “aftermath” because yes, growing and giving birth to another human being takes its toll.  Garcia even shared in a comment on a post with pictures of her pregnant belly’s stretch marks that she hadn’t done anything to “treat” them yet either. In a YouTube vlog, she said, “I didn’t think I’ll care so little about them. Maybe because from the start, I anticipated already and accepted that na it’s inevitable.” Yup, and that’s that.

Pia Wurtzbach

Even Miss Universe queens get body-shamed too, actually, they are probably even bigger targets for online bashing in general! The 2015 Miss U titleholder posted this stunning unfiltered photo of herself on her IG with a reminder that “We’re more than a number on a scale, a filter on Instagram, or the opinion of other people.” Wurtzbach shared that she didn’t want to post the picture because of the things she’s been called through the years “but you know what, this body has carried me through life, and I will honor it—cellulites, jiggles, and all.”

Andi Eigenmann

This island queen has made a name all for herself just by keeping it real! Andi Eigenmann has given us no lack of filter-free moments—but the way she documented her pregnancies on her Instagram are probably the realest of them all. Eigenmann posted pictures of her stretch marks, talked about her mental health and more, plus she posted a very intimate look at her recovery post-pregnancy. She expertly went against the grain and told us not to expect her pre-baby bod to “bounce back” anytime soon. “Been thinking about ‘project comeback’ and creating my fitness plan for after I recover from my C-section, but I am not in a hurry to start again,” she wrote.

Ylona Garcia

88Rising singer Ylona Garcia has pretty much kept it refreshingly real all the time on her Instagram. The PBB housemate has let folks in on her life in Australia, from working in McDonalds to chilling poolside sans makeup. In a post uploaded to her IG though, the 19-year-old upped the real vibes by staying completely makeup free in a clip! Different from the usual selfie especially since the clip was a peek at her editing her songs and talking to her followers like it was a totally normal thing—which yup, it actually is. Petition for more barefaced IG posts in general!

Catriona Gray

The Miss Universe 2018 posts barefaced selfies on her IG every so often, but this one posted after the most recent Miss Universe coronation night holds even more significance. The queen posted these adorable pics to remind folks that underneath all the flawless shoots she does, she is very much still human. “In reality I have pores, oiliness, fine lines, breakouts, beauty spots and moles…and I’m perfectly fine with that,” she wrote. “This is just a kind, little reminder to remember that what we see online is a ‘curated feed,’ and that we shouldn’t compare that to our everyday reality.”

Angel Locsin

Angel Locsin didn’t give bashers any notice when pictures of her went viral in June 2020—a time when the Internet dubbed her a body-positivity queen as an answer to all the hateful comments on her weight gain. But it looks like she’s more than ready to actively take on the role! She posted low-key pictures of her post work-out recently complete with a reminder to “love every inch of you.” It was a totally subtle way to acknowledge her body’s journey, while keeping the body-shamers in check! A real-life Darna indeed.
