Back to zero? Gretchen Ho, Zsazsa Padilla, Juan Miguel Severo, other personalities express disappointment as COVID-19 cases surge again

Is this déjà vu? After a year of lock-down still, the situation in our country is not improving. Other countries are slowly rebuilding their economy, but the Philippines seems to be going back to the start.

Due to the spike in cases recently, celebrities and Netizens are worried and dismayed with the country’s response to the pandemic.

Gretchen Ho believes that the situation in the country is worsening. She then demands a concrete plan from whoever should be in-charge.

Juan Miguel Severo feels like we are going back to the start. After a year, should we begin again?

Zsazsa Padilla worries about when the nation could ever bounce back to where it should be. Businesses have just opened recently, and maybe they will be forced to close again.

The government should double or even triple its efforts in combatting the COVID-19 virus.

Filipinos have been longing for mass testing, contact tracing, stricter quarantine, and vaccines for so long, and, until now, the people are still [badly] needing all of these.

Considering the bloating debts allocated for funding the COVID-19 response, the government still cannot effectively mitigate the virus.

Are the Filipinos traveling through an endless tunnel? Because until now, one cannot still see the light at the end of it.

The government claims that they did not expect another spike of COVID-19 cases. But, Filipinos must note that it is their tall order to reopen the businesses to revive the economy. They are also liable for the sluggish procurement and roll-out of the vaccines.

There are also some regulations and priorities of the government which seem to be irrelevant and futile, just like the implementation of curfew hours and requiring the usage of face shields.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III even earned flak after he went house-to-house in Parañaque City to distribute face shields and remind everyone to follow minimum health standards.

For three straight days, from March 19 to 21, the Philippines recorded record-high cases which breached 7000. As of writing, there are 70,000 active cases.

The government can do better than this, and must! Or else, the nation will be stuck in this longer lockdown forever.Franci
