GMA Network in Fighting Form: To Offer Its Most Ambitious Roster of New Programs Ever in 2021

GMA Network is fast reclaiming from lagging its nearest competitors in meeting the demands for new content last year. An extravaganza of exciting new shows that are coming via the Network’s other free channel–GTV. Its slogan is Keeping it Good for its avid viewers.

GMA Network promises to cover every viewing demographic with its roster of new offerings. From romcoms to heavy dramas, comedy to fantasy, there is one in store for every audience.

The Kapuso media giant is also poised to amps up its game in delivering news and public affairs programs, with contents intended to shed light upon socio-culturally relevant issues, especially now that the pandemic is persisting.

The Kapuso audiences will never look at romance at family drama again, the same way they will at First Yaya, which will finally grace the small screen, after having been stalled by Marian Rivera’s dropping out of the project. The titular role now belongs to Sanya Lopez, who is now seemingly being groomed to be GMA Network’s next primetime leading lady.

Rita Daniela and Ken Chan, on the other hand, are reunited for yet another ‘kilig’ project. They are set to headline the new series, Ang Dalawang Ikaw, which will also be the launchpad for the newbie, Anna Vicente.

Dramatic actress, Glaiza de Castro, will again capture the Kapuso with the television adaptation of Ishmael Bernal’s classic, Nagbabagang Luha, based on comics of the same title, by Elena Patron. Returning drama-anthology series, I Can See You, similarly, will leave Kapuso viewers, in awe, with a fantastic new line-up of weekly stories.

Offering the Kapuso viewers a socially and culturally relevant drama–GMA Network will intrigue via Legal Wives, which will tackle a long-deemed taboo—the monogamy. The ensemble drama will deliver Dennis Trillo’s biggest lead dramatic role, to date with three Kapuso actresses Alice Dixson, Andrea Torres, and Bianca Umali, playing as his wives.

Meanwhile, in Las Hermanas, revenge and jealousy run the story; to play hard-hitting characters are Yasmien Kurdi, Faith da Silva, Jason Abalos, and returning Kapuso, Albert Martinez.

For both young and masculine audiences, Bong Revilla Jr.-led, Agimat ng Agila, promises to satisfy the Kapuso’s craving for fantasy and action-packed adventures. Those who dig legal dramas, will surely be captured by Artikulo 247, while hopeless romantics will fall for Love Connections, and suckers for fairytale-inspired dramas, will find themselves smitten with Little Princess.

Faithfull followers of the top-rating daytime drama Prima Donnas won’t be missing their favorite characters for too long. Season two is coming to continue the emotional saga of the three Donnas this year.

Similarly, Sorsogon’s First Lady, Heart Evangelista makes her long-anticipated return via I Left My Heart in Sorsogon. It explores the life of a socialite who comes back to her hometown–only to rediscover her roots, her estranged relationship with her family and community, also the love for someone in the past she never thought still resides inside her.

GMA Public Affairs continue to unravel its biggest and most ambitious line-up of new shows as it finally releases this year, highly-anticipated programs. Ruru Madrid-starrer, Lolong, and these upcoming series—Sireno, Mask, Love Comes, Love Ghosts, Version 2, among the other programs produced by the Kapuso production unit. Also debuting this year is the revamped version of the travel show, Road Trip

Love.Die.Repeat., on the other hand, as poised to deliver an exciting take on ‘temporal loops’, as it showcases a story about a woman whose life turned upside down after her fiancé’s death, only to relive that tragic moment, over and over again.

Among all announced new programs of the Kapuso Network, however, the anticipation for the live-adaptation of the 70’s classic anime, Voltes V, is undoubtedly unrivaled. The station’s most ambitious project in years, the adaptation will star Miguel Tanfelix in his huge role to date. Ysabel Ortega, Radson Flores, Matt Lozano, and Raphael Landicho also play the lead stars.

Similarly, ambitious, is the long-anticipated Philippine version of the massive Korean hit, Running Man, while the new game show, Lam’Na, which is intended to legitimize popular media, analyze viral hits, and debunk fake news, will enlighten and delight Kapuso viewers.

Real-life couple, Mikael Daez and Megan Young (Miss World 2013) will challenge romantic pairs, in a singing showdown, via the singing-talent search, Singing for Hearts. GMA Network also plans to release various reality shows, including Grad Waiting and Supermom, within the year.

Under GMA Network’s sister channel, GTV, the Kapuso Network will give way to the first Kapuso TV series, starred by a real-life couple, Khalil Ramos and Gabbi Garcia. The couple will star in the series, Love You Stranger. Moreover, the free-to-air channel will also premiere the Julie Anne San Jose-starrer, Heartful Café, as well as the drama series, Jowa SessionsBoarding House, and The Write One.
