Kim Chiu becomes emotional over her interview with ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ contestant who was #YesToABSCBNShutdown

The hashtag was referring to ABS-CBN’s previous crisis of fighting for its franchise which some people expressed their hopes on wanting the network to close down. The Kapamilya lost the franchise bid and was then forced to halt in July 2020.

In an episode of the said noontime show, a contestant who performed in the show’s “Tawag ng Tanghalan” admitted to previously wanting the ABS-CBN network to close which made Kim Chiu emotional.

The contestant, Kaloy Villaver of Talisay City, Cebu, mentioned that he was ashamed of his actions of wanting the ABS-CBN network to shut down especially he still decided to join the singing contest  ‘It’s Showtime’ which is a show under the Kapamilya network.

“Nahihiya po ako, actually. I get to be honest, sobrang hiya po ako sa ginawa ko because I was barking at the wrong tree that time.

“And that was before I kept quiet. But before I came home to the Philippines, marami din akong… I have a lot of doubts kaya ayoko na magsalita sa mga bagay-bagay kasi ayoko lalo mapahiya ‘yung sarili ko.

“Napahiya po ako, sobra,” Kaloy said.

Kim Chiu got emotional as she shared that people who wished her home network to shut down did not think of how her fellow Kapamilyas would feel.

The ‘Chinita Princess’ said that despite the bad wishes towards ABS-CBN, the network still opened its doors to all people even when they are in favor or against the network.

The 30-year-old actress-host also shared that she appreciated that Kaloy still stood in front of the camera to apologize publicly.

Meanwhile, Kim Chiu replied to a netizen, who Tweeted about her response to the ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ contestant, who praised her for the loyalty that she showed to ABS-CBN which the actress-host responded with heart emojis symbolizing the colors of the ABS-CBN logo which are red, blue, and green.

She also gave the same response to the post of It’s Showtime’s Twitter account who acknowledged her loyalty to the Kapamilya network.
