Lyca Gairanod becomes emotional after recalling her humble beginnings in their old house in Tanza, Cavite

Lyca Gairanod became emotional when she revisited her old house in Tanza. For her YouTube vlog post, she took her fans to the place where she lived before she became the grand winner of the first season of “The Voice Kids” in 2014.

Her emotional house tour vlog premiered on her YouTube channel on Monday, August, 24.

At first, Lyca was upbeat and cheerful throughout the tour and reminisced about the different parts of her old house. She showed how simple she lived as she explained her humble living conditions before.

But the 15-year-old singer became emotional later on when she remembered how far she has come after winning the singing competition. She explained that her house by the sea brought so many memories like her humble beginnings and her colorful childhood.

“Parang nami-miss mo, sobra ‘yung bahay na ‘to. Grabe, and dami nitong — na-experience nito sakin, and ang dami kong napagdaanan,” she said.

“Marami akong pinagdaanan dati.

She said that her old house will always be special for her and that she would always yearn for the simple life that she had before.

But Lyca said that she is happy with the life that she has now. She is thankful that she was blessed to live a comfortable life now.

She recalled that in her old house, their family would always evacuate whenever a storm would come and that she would always worry about the house that they left behind. She said that she values their old home so much.

“’Pag bagyo, napakahirap kasi nag-e-evacuate kami sa school. Doon kami pumupunta. Siyempre hindi ako kampante na nandoon ako. Siyempre gusto ko nakikita ko ‘yung bahay ko. Naiiyak pa nga ako noon,” she said.

The young singer also talked to her grandmother who was currently living in the house.

According to her grandmother, Lyca was the one to alleviate their family’s poverty. She said that she is grateful that Lyca gave her the house and mentioned that she will treasure it for the rest of her life.

Hindi ako aalis dito, maski sino pa ang magpapaalis,” her grandmother said.

Lyca revealed that her grandmother was the one who took care of her and her siblings back when their mother was not home because of work. That’s why she loves her grandmother so much. She said that she would always be there for her grandma no matter what.

She mentioned that she is extremely lucky that she has someone like her grandmother who supports and loves her unconditionally.

Lyca also shared that she has been trying to get her grandmother to live with them in their new house but her grandma insists on staying where she is. She said that her grandmother doesn’t want to leave the house and that she prefers to live by the sea more.

Lyca Gairanod was the first-ever grand winner of “The Voice Kids” in 2014 where she landed a recording contract with MCA Music Inc. (Philippines). At a young age, she already started to become the breadwinner of her family.

She was a part of the Philippine version of “Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids”. She also appeared on several TV shows in the Philippines such as “Hawak-Kamay”, “Maalaala Mo Kaya”, “Goin’ Bulilit”, “ASAP”, and “It’s Showtime”.
