Manny V. Pangilinan tempers excitement of Kapamilya fans for expanded ABS-CBN-TV5 deal

No less than TV5 and CIGNAL Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan toned down the Kapamilya excitement with the recent partnership between the 2 networks.

Rumors about more Kapamilya shows to air on TV5 are currently circulating on social media following the start of ASAP Natin ‘To and FPJ Da King‘s broadcast on Kapatid Network.

On Sunday, January 24, ABS-CBN’s longest-running Sunday musical variety show ASAP Natin ‘To started its simulcast airing on TV5. FPJ Da King movie block also made its debut on the Kapatid channel.

Because of that, speculations and expectations from loyal Kapamilya viewers were high for other ABS-CBN programs to follow.

However, MVP himself said it’s too early to tell if there will be more Kapamilya shows that will also air on TV5.

According to MVP, there are still many factors to consider for an expanded deal thus people especially Kapamilya supporters should not expect in the soonest future.

“Hence too early to give a clear picture,” Pangilinan said.

In 2019 when the ABS-CBN franchise renewal was still being discussed at the House of Representatives, rumors about a block time deal between TV5 and ABS-CBN were already around. MVP however was still wary of the talks considering its political implications.

“Setting aside the politics, if they want to block time we are prepared to talk. We don’t have much entertainment content. It’s up to them. Of course, politically, the President might say something so we are also reluctant,” he said.

Meanwhile, the collaboration between the 2 giant networks ABS-CBN and TV5 is made under the block time deal by Brightlight Productions.

With the cancellation of Sunday Noontime Live and I Got You, Brighlight decided to get ASAP and FPJ Da King to fill in the timeslots.

Prior to the ABS-CBN-TV5 deal, the Kapamilya network has also entered a deal with Zoe Broadcasting which gave birth to the A2Z Channel 11.

Currently, most of the Kapamilya shows being aired on Kapamilya Channel in Cable TV and Kapamilya Online Live on the internet are also being aired over A2Z Channel both on analog and digital signals.
