Maui Taylor, Rose Van Ginkel, and Janno Gibbs share their realizations after doing ’69+1′
Upon experiencing a polyamorous relationship via Vivamax newest offer, Maui Taylor, Rose Van Ginkel, and Janno Gibbs all realized one thing: it’s hard.
69+1 is about a lesbian couple who wants to have a throuple—three for a couple, for a year, since they missed the physical aspects of a man.
At the virtual press conference of the film, August 9, Gibbs realized that polyamory is not only difficult but also much more complicated than what people think.
Polyamory is a romantic relationship that involves multiple individuals who all agreed to be a part of it.
“We realized it’s not that easy. Well, alam naman natin na hindi madali talaga but lalo naming naintindihan na it’s more complicated than we know.”
According to Gibbs, another thing that makes it hard being in a polyamorous relationship is the difficulty of balancing feelings.
“Mahirap na hindi ka mag favor sa isa or kasi dapat throuple. Eh, equal yung love mo for the three. I guess you can’t help but ma-fall in love more with one and the things like that. Mahirap i-balance,” he added.
For his co-star Ginkel, polyamory has already been normalized in this generation as people are always looking for excitement in their relationships.
She agreed with her leading man that such a relationship is challenging. However, Ginkel could not deny that being in a polyamorous relationship even if it’s just in a film was “enjoyable.”
“Sa akin naman, lalo na sa generation ngayon, parang normal na kasi yung mga ganitong eksena. Parang mas ngayon… yung mga tao parang mas gusto more excitement sa relationship.
“So, exciting ‘tong gawin kasi ako, bilang Rose, ‘di ko naman siya gagawin talaga sa totoong buhay. Pero dito sa movie na ‘to, at least na–experience ko man lang. Masaya and mahirap. Parang big decision din ‘to para sa couple,” she explained.
Meanwhile, Taylor admitted that she never knew that polyamory actually existed. But upon doing the film, she realized that polyamorous relationships could make one person question themselves, aside from its difficulty.
“…kahit pala nasa polyamorous relationship ka, you could actually come to a point where you’d question yourself whether it’s love or it’s lust that you’re dealing with.
“It’s very hard to be in one and at the same time para s’yang a mix of emotions when you’re actually in one.”
69+1 tells the story of a lesbian couple Ivy (Taylor) and Patricia (Ginkel), who have let a man named Apol (Gibbs) enter into their lives for a year.
Together, they will discover if a polyamorous relationship will work for them or not.
Catch the movie, directed by Darryl Yap, the man behind Paglaki Ko Gusto Kong Maging Pornstar, Ang Babaeng Walang Pakiramdam, Revirginized, and more. 69+1 will be streaming on Vivamax starting on September 3.
