Talent manager rejects helping party-list because of its ABS-CBN shutdown stand
Talent manager Noel Ferrer rejected a party-list on November 5 after seeking his help finding a celebrity to endorse their political group.
In his Facebook post, Ferrer shared he was “sorry” for the organization after he inquired about their previous stand in the 2020 ABS-CBN franchise renewal.
“Nakakaawa naman and isang party-list na naghahanap ng endorser na celeb/artista,” he started.
He then asked, “You want an artista / my talent to endorse you, what was your party-list’s position in the ABS-CBN franchise issue?”
According to the group, their previous representative heavily opposed the renewal of the ABS-CBN franchise but is now running for a different government post.
“Ayun na nga po, ‘yung dati naman pong Representative namin (who staunchly opposed the granting of the ABS-CBN franchise ha) ay tumatakbo na po sa ibang position ngayon. Iba naman na po ang nominee namin. Sana i-consider niyo naman po, and see who among your talents can endorse us, and give us the chance na makabawi naman sa inyo.”
Ferrer then politely rejected their request as he responded, “Salamat na lang po!”
Though the talent manager did not drop names, in his post, he noted that he would vote for incumbent Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte in the upcoming elections. She is seeking a second term as mayor of the city.
Belmonte’s opponent is Anakalusugan Rep. Mike Defensor, who heavily opposed ABS-CBN during its many franchise hearings.
Before ending his post, Ferrer reminded the public to be wary of the 70 congressmen who voted against the Network’s franchise renewal bid.
Last year, ABS-CBN went off the air after the House Committee on Legislative Franchises denied its franchise application despite unproven allegations.
The Network, now franchise-less, explored the digital platform and made its success there. It also partnered with other TV stations such as A2Z, TV5, and PRTV Tacloban to have some of its programs available on free TV.
