France opened for tourism to U.S and other 26 countries from the end of June

France is open to tourists from all over the world including EU nations and the U.S. Travelers from 18 countries can only visit for essential reasons and under a number of restrictions.

This term, the United States and Canada made it to the green list.

All arrivals must download the “AllAntiCovid” travel App and bring a negative COVID-19 test. Vaccinated visitors from “orange” countries will no longer need to quarantine on arrival.

France Travel Restrictions – Latest Updates

July 4 – France reopened for tourism to the U.S and other 26 territories from the end of June

France reopened its borders to American and other tourists from the end of June. To be allowed entry, fully vaccinated visitors must have received one of the EU-approved vaccines.

The country is currently accepting visitors inoculated with Pfizer, Moderna AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson (Janssen).

Travelers who opted for vaccines different from these will still need to prove their compelling reasons to travel to France.

The government has recently moved the United States to its “green list” of countries. So for now U.S. visitors are allowed entry regardless of vaccination status. However, this may change with little to no prior notice.

June 22 – France reopened for tourism but banned 18 countries from June 17

France reopened for international tourism on June 9 removing the need for coronavirus tests for vaccinated Europeans. Allowed countries will be updated on a weekly basis depending on the epidemiology situation of each territory.

The new color-code system informs travelers the type of restrictions they will face upon arrival and also the ones that have been lifted.

On June 17, France banned visitors from South Africa, Argentina, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Uruguay, Paraguay, Afghanistan and Maldives due to a high incidence of COVID-19.

France is currently discussing the possibility of relaxing multiple COVID-19 related restrictions on June 23 and on July 9.

June 7 – France is set to reopen for tourism with a new color-code system from June 9

Starting June 9, France will finally reopen to most tourists worldwide. From Wednesday, all E.U. citizens will be allowed entry without COVID-19 test or quarantine.

Arrivals from third-party “orange countries” must bring proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken no older than 72 hours or a negative antigen test no older than 48. Those arriving from “green countries” will no longer need to undergo testing if they’re vaccinated.

People from red-listed countries can only enter for compelling reasons after submitting a negative COVID-19 test and undergoing a 14-day quarantine.

“From June 9, the flow of travelers between France and foreign countries will be reopened according to terms that vary depending on the health situation in third countries and the vaccination of travelers,” the French government announced on June 4.

May 26 – France to reopen on June 9 with a more robust traveling App

The EU’s decision to reopen borders to vaccinated travelers has been celebrated by millions of tourists and travel companies worldwide. However, confusion reigns as visitors try to grasp the different rules, regulations and procedures, so they aren’t denied entry at an EU airport.

To avoid all that confusion, France has created and improved its “AllAntiCovid” app where visitors will be able to upload their COVID-19 test results, vaccine certificate, and check the special requirements in case they come from a red, orange or green country

France also added a “digital recall book” that will be used to inform visitors if they were, for example, in close contact with a positive patient at a dinner in a particular restaurant last night.

France’s Directorate General for Health has emphasized that those who refuse to use the app QR code for contract tracing will be denied entry to multiple tourist venues.
