Seychelles is Open for Tourism but Imposing New Restrictions for Some Countries

Seychelles is open for tourism to all countries. All visitors must submit a negative PCR COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours prior to departure. 

There is no quarantine requirement and no restriction on movement for visitors upon entry to Seychelles. 

Visitors from South Africa and Brazil continue to be banned until further notice.

Update April 28 – Seychelles Public Health Authority to enforce new travel restrictions

Effective immediately, the Seychelles’ health authority has announced new travel measures giving the alarming increase in outbreaks in multiple countries right after the new coronavirus variant first detected in India, makes its way to those territories. 

So as of now and until further notice, travelers from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh must have taken two doses of an approved vaccine against COVID-19 two weeks before arrival and undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine at their own expense before they can be granted entry.

Update April 1 – Seychelles has open for tourism and commercial airlines are resuming operations

Seychelles has finally reopened for tourism and these are the airlines that are currently connecting the island country to the world. 

  • Emirates: visitors can now find flights to and from Seychelles to Dubai 7 times a week.
  • Qatar Airways: this airline is flying to Seychelles 3 times per week. 
  • Air Seychelles has resumed operations to and from Tel Aviv and Dubai 3 times per week. It also will restart operations to Mumbai from April 7 and Mauritius on June 2.
  • Aeroflot: the Russian airlines will connect Seychelles to Russia 2 times per week starting April 2. 
  • Air Austral will connect the country with Reunion from April 4.
  • Turkey Airlines will restart operations to and from Istanbul from April 23. 
  • Ethiopian airlines: starting May 2, this airline will connect Seychelles to several European as well as some Asian countries.
  • Kenya Airways will resume operations on June 27.
  • Edelweiss Air: passengers coming from Zurich will be able to travel to the island from July 3.
  • Condor: this airline will connect Frankfurt to Seychelles from October 1. 

Update March 11

The Seychelles’ extremely ambitious plan to vaccinate most of their population in record time seems to be working well. They may reach their goal of herd immunity by mid-March.

The government has announced the imminent full reopening of the country will take place on March 25. (Source)

Update February 17 – Vaccination rollout 

So far, Seychelles has vaccinated about 28.7% of the country’s population with the Sinopharm and the Oxford – AstraZeneca (or Covisheild) vaccines. 

The Ministry of Health is reportedly looking for volunteers to help administrate the vaccines to ensure more efficiency as the country continues administrating the second doses. 

What countries can enter Seychelles at the moment?

As of now, visitors from all countries can visit Seychelles but those coming from South Africa and Brazil. 

Are Americans allowed entry to the Seychelles?

Yes. American travelers are allowed to visit the country. 

What are the entry restrictions?

Is Seychelles safe to visit during COVID-19?

As of today, the country has reported 5,354 cases and 26 deaths. 

Travelers’ insurance and accommodation

Before departing for Seychelles, your entire stay must be covered by travel and medical insurance. For your safety, the public health authority will verify that your accommodations are booked at a certified facility.

Safe tourism experience is essential, so Seychelles developed a taskforce and certification system to verify safety protocols called the Safe Tourism Certification for industry service providers. 

The easily recognizable green-ticked badge will demonstrate to guests that a business has adopted hygiene and health protocols and standards mandated by the public health department. 

Arrival protocols and safeguards

Regardless of if you arrive via a private jet or commercial passenger flight, multiple health evaluations such as symptoms scans or questionnaires, random swabbing, and temperature scans will be administered to all incoming tourists and crew.

Tourists are required to email negative test result certificates, all accommodation, and flight details to the Seychelles Public Health Authority at [email protected] before arrival. 

What about cruising to Seychelles?

Cruise ships are currently not allowed to dock in Seychelles.
