9,000 LSIs in Luzon await transport assistance to provinces

Misamis Occidental, June 28 (PIA)—Over 9,000 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) remain stranded in Luzon awaiting transport assistance to return to their home provinces.

“We’re talking of 9,000 locally stranded individuals (LSIs) here and more than 50 percent have been informed about this,” Presidential Management Staff (PMS) Assistant Secretary Joseph Encabo provided updates on the Hatid Tulong Program during the Laging Handa Network Briefing program, June 26, with Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar.

The transportation of the individuals is already being arranged under the government’s “Hatid Tulong” program, Encabo added.

Furthermore, Encabo appealed to the IATF to allow the Hatid Tulong program to continue on sending off LSIs because everything is all set.

“The President also announced in his talk to the nation that there will be a send off. Since the President publicly announced this, it is considered an order from him and should be implemented,” Encabo said.

Encabo also discussed with Department of the Interior and Local Government Sec. Eduardo Año the plans to prioritize LGUs which are already set to receive the LSIs.

“This will be part of our strategy to be able to continue with the July 4 and July 5 send-off,” he added.
