MARAWI CITY, Apr. 19 (PIA)–At least 376 incoming freshmen college students across the Bangsamoro region are expected to benefit from the Ministry of Science and Technology’s (MOST) second batch of Bangsamoro Assistance For Science Education (BASE) scholarship program for the school year 2021-2022.
Each of the scholars will be granted a monthly cash allowance amounting to Php8,000.00.
BASE Program aims to “stimulate and entice talented Bangsamoro youths to pursue lifetime productive careers in science and technology and ensure a steady, adequate supply of qualified science and technology human resources which can steer the country towards national progress.”
The following are the general qualifications for the applicants of the said program:
-A natural-born Filipino citizen and a resident of BARMM;
-Attained an 85% general average, with good moral character and in good health;
-Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand senior high school graduating class;
-Member of the top five percent (5%) of the Non-STEM strand senior high school graduating class;
-Less privileged, deserving student who belongs to a family whose socio-economic status does not exceed the set values of certain indicators (not more than Php 250,000.00 annual family income);
-Not a recipient of other scholarship programs;
-Do not have any post-secondary or undergraduate units; and
-Must pass the BASE Program Examination and pursue a Bachelor of Science degree program in any of the priority fields of the state university or colleges in any private higher education institution that is recognized by the Commission on Higher Education.

The deadline for submission will be on June 2, 2021 while the date of the qualifying exam will be on June 21-25, 2021.
