VICTORIA, Oriental Mindoro, May 3 (PIA) — As part of the implementation of Solid Waste Management, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) designate Pinky Gahol led the formal opening recently of the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) in Brgy. Malabo in this town.

The facility will serve as processing zone for collected bio-degradable and non-biodegradable materials from different barangays using the alternative technology.

Simultaneous to its opening is the continuous implementation of ‘No to Plastic Ordinance’ and ‘No Segregation, No Collection Policy’ in every barangay in the town of Victoria.

The newly opened MRF is a key component of residential and commercial single-stream recycling program of the local government.  The MRF receives commingled materials and uses a combination of equipment and manual labor to separate and densify materials as well in preparation for shipment downstream to the recyclers of the recovered materials.

The program was made feasible through the joint initiatives of Mayor Joselito C. Malabanan, Vice Mayor Marlo V. Nuarin together with the members of Sangguniang Bayan, program implementers and all department heads of the local government.  (LTC/PIA-OrMin)
