TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, April 7 (PIA) – – -The ongoing construction of drainage system along Caritan-Balzain Creek in Tuguegarao City has reached 40 percent actual accomplishment as of March this year according to the Department of Public Works and Highways- Cagayan Third District Engineering Office (DPWH-CTDEO).
District Engineer Danilo U. Tabilas said thousands of residents from Barangays Caritan and Balzain will soon benefit from the ongoing drainage system construction once completed.
“Once completed, this project will restrain road flooding ensuring city motorists a better transportation of goods and services at all times,” Tabilas said.
Initiated by Cagayan Third District Representative Joseph L. Lara, the project aims to divert the long run flow of the Cagayan River to a more efficient channel minimizing the detrimental effects of flooding.
The construction which started on November 29, 2020 is a Multi-Year Contractual Authority (MYCA).
During its ground breaking ceremony, Lara said the rehabilitation of the Caritan-Balzain Creek is necessary to prevent the overflowing of water so that the massive flooding that hit the city last year will no longer happen in the future. (MDCT with reports from DPWH/PIA-2)
