Curfew tops violations of COVID-19 operations in Benguet

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, July 5(PIA) – – The Police Provincial Office recorded significant decrease on criminality during the community quarantine period while infraction on curfew topped violations on COVID-19 operations.

The PPO recorded a drop of 82 percent of crime volume from January to June this year compared to the same period last year which is attributed to the controlled movement since the declaration of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) last March 17, 2020.

Crime clearance efficiency increased by 25 percent while crime solution efficiency increased by 13 per cent.

The police recorded a total of 1,480 violations relative to COVID-19 operations particularly on   curfew, liquor ban, disobedience, checkpoints, not wearing of mask and others violations of Republic Act 11332 or the Bayanihan Heal as One Act.

Topping the violations is curfew with a total of 1,320 followed by liquor ban with 200 violators then disobedience with  86 cases.

These were recorded in the La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba-Tublay (LISTT) areas including the town of Buguias with the capital town tallying the the most violations.

Other violations recorded were 2,103 cases due to overloading, reckless driving, non-wearing of seatbelts while 1,446 persons and 1,350 vehicles were denied of entry for failure to show documentary requirements such as quarantine pass and health declaration forms.  

There were also 96 food pass and 103 vehicle pass confiscations due to possession of expired and faked passes.

Violations relative to COVID-19 operations totaled 1,480 cases such as curfew, liquor ban, disobedience, violation of Republic Act 11332 or the Bayanihan Heal as One Act, checkpoint and not wearing of mask.

Topping the violations was on curfew recording a total of 1,320 violations followed by liquor ban of 200 violators then disobedience of 86 cases. Others were not wearing of mask totaling 36, not wearing of mask 14 and checkpoint 4.

These were recorded in the La Trinidad-Itogon-Sablan-Tuba-Tublay (LISTT) areas including the town of Buguias.

The capital town recorded the most violations. For curfew were 1,296 cases; disobedience, 28; liquor ban, 12; and four checkpoint.  

This is followed by Tuba recording 28 on RA 1132 violations; disobedience, 20; and liquor ban, four.

Violations in Itogon were disobedience, 25;  RA 11332, eight; liquor ban, four; and curfew, one.

Buguias recorded 16 curfew violations, Sablan with three cases of disobedience while Tublay, seven cases of curfew violation.     

Other violations recorded were 2,103 cases due to overloading, reckless driving, non-wearing of seatbelts while 1,446 persons and 1,350 vehicles were denied of entry for failure to show documentary requirements such as quarantine pass and health declaration forms.  

There were also 96 food pass and 103 vehicle pass confiscations due to possession of expired and faked passes. 

Security was tight since the ECQ period showing police visibility in checkpoints, highways including establishments and market places when movement was relaxed during the shift in quarantine status to date. (SCA-PIA-CAR, Benguet)
