CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, July 11 (PIA) –The Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV-CALABARZON through its Livestock Program handed over five mushroom production packages to personnel of the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of Sampaloc, Quezon July 7, 2020 at the regional office’s new home in Lipa City, Batangas.

The mushroom production packages will be distributed to qualifying farmers in the municipality of Sampaloc, Quezon as part of DA CALABARZON’s continuous support to improve the mushroom production industry.

Earlier, Quezon 1st District Rep. Wilfrido Mark M. Enverga, Chairman of House Committee on Agriculture and Food and Vilma M. Dimaculangan, Assistant Regional Director (ARD) for Research and Regulations of Department of Agriculture (DA) Region IV-CALABARZON distributed 100 heads of free-range chickens, crates, and other agricultural interventions to livestock farmers July 2, 2020.

In coordination with the Office of Cong. Enverga of the 1st District of Quezon, the distribution of chickens and other agri interventions is part of the livelihood assistance program being implemented by DA CALABARZON.

Rep. Enverga said his office continues to work with the regional office to help identify the needs of the farmers and to serve as a strong voice in the lower house to raise the plight of the farmers for a bigger budget in agriculture and enact laws that will definitely support them in improving their production and income.

On the other hand, ARD Dimaculangan said the agricultural interventions will provide additional livelihood opportunities to farmer-beneficiaries.

Five heads of carabaos and five mushroom production packages will also be turned over to qualified farmers in Sampaloc. (PIA-4A/DA-RFO IVA, RAFIS)
