DAVAO CITY, Feb. 18 (PIA) – The provincial government of Davao Occidental turned over on Monday (Feb. 15) ten (10) housing units to the beneficiaries of the Community Pabahay sa Barangay (CPB) Shelter Program.
The recipients were from Barangay Ogpao in the municipality of Sta. Maria.
CPB-Shelter Program beneficiary Catalina Luncayas expressed her gratitude towards the provincial local government especially to Governor Claude Bautista for the assistance.
“Salamat sa grasya na among nadawat, labi na sa atong governor… (I am thankful for the blessing that we received, especially to our governor),” Luncayas stated.
Barangay Mana Captain Norman Mariano also extended his gratitude on behalf of his constituents for establishing the mentioned program.
“Ipaabot lang namo kay (governor), salamat jud kaayo nga ang mga pabahay na establish na gyud namo. Nag pasalamat pud ang mga katawhan sa Barangay Mana (We want to thank the governor for establishing the program. The residents in Barangay Mana are also thankful),” he said.
Governor Claude Bautista urged his constituents to support the development programs of the provincial government.
“…atong suportahan ang pag uswag ug pag lambo sa atong probinsiya sa Davao Occidental kay walay lain nga makinabang ani atoang probinsiya kung dili kitang lumulupyo sa Davao Occidental (… let’s support the progress and development of our province, because the residents of Davao Occidental will be the ones who will benefit from it),” Bautista stated.
Meanwhile, additional housing units for other barangays which are part of the initial 50 housing units are also set to be turned-over.
Ground breaking ceremonies have also been conducted in some barangays where the beneficiaries were selected based on the vulnerability criteria.
The provincial LGU has officially launched the CPB Shelter Program with a theme “Balay Aron Pamilya Mahamugaway”, in December last year.
The 73rd Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, volunteers from the different government agencies and the community members have join forces to build and construct the housing units. (PIA-XI/Samantha Jabol)
