DOH reports manageable levels of active COVID-19 cases in R-XI

DAVAO CITY (PIA) – The Department of Health Davao Center for Health Development (DOH DCHD) has assured that Region XI is currently facing manageable levels of active coronavirus diseases 2019 (COVID-19) despite a recent rise in cases.

As of July 13, a total of 773 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in the Davao Region where 36% or 281 of the said total number are active cases. With this, the DOH DCHD Regional Director Dr. Anabelle Yumang reports that there is still a sufficient number of beds that are solely dedicated to COVID-19 patients.

“The region has identified a total of 5,693-bed capacities from different LGU’s TTMFs (Temporary Treatment Monitoring Facilities). Among these bed capacities, only 25% or 1,495 beds are occupied.” Yumang said.

Provinces and cities in Region XI have identified strategically located TTMFs which provide close monitoring of a confirmed patient’s status, symptoms, and referrals if needed.

“Our LGUs have their local task force on COVID-19 to ensure that minimum health standards are observed,” Yumang said in discussing the efforts that LGUs are taking into action to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Yumang also bared that contact tracing efforts are underway with the supervision of local government units (LGUs) in Region XI,

“LGUs are strengthening their contact tracing and monitoring close contacts at the barangay level,” Yumang added. (PIA XI/KPLCaro)
