DSWD partners with other agencies to boost anti-child pornography campaign
QUEZON CITY, Jan. 21 (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has coordinated with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to track and arrest perpetrators of the reportedly proliferating illegal transactions involving the online sale of lewd photos and videos of some students.
As the Chair of the Inter-agency Council Against Child Pornography or IACACP, the DSWD is coordinating also with the NBI or the National Bureau of Investigation so we can track and catch the perpetrators, and provide appropriate protection and intervention to the children involved), Department of Social Welfare and Development Undersecretary Rene Glen Paje said during the “Laging Handa” Press Briefing Wednesday, January 20.
He explained that the children being victimized of sexual abuse are brought into the custody of the DSWD and undergo appropriate psycho-social interventions.
He also pointed out that the agency strengthens coordination with other IACACP member agencies, and the overall campaign against child pornography especially during the pandemic. Special coordination is being done with the Department of the Interior Local Government (DILG), among its Barangay Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC), to enforce an information drive for the prevention, early detection, and possible actions against perpetrators of child pornography.
He urged parents to guide their children against illegal activities so as to protect their lives from ruin.
We must continue to guard and guide our children and when we notice untoward activities, we must report them to the local social development officers in your municipality in your province, or to the PNP Women’s Desk located inside the police station,) he added.
Paje also asked the public to report untoward incidents to PNP-WCPC Hotlines: 09458632235 (Luzon), 02324108483 (Visayas) 09280646425 or 0971 1806037 (Mindanao) or 919777737 (Aling Pulis). (ARR/IDPD)
