Malungon Mayor says Php120-M business center to boost local economy

MALUNGON, Sarangani, Sept 9 (PIA) – Mayor Maria Theresa D. Constantino on Wednesday disclosed that the Php120 Million business center, which is expected to be completed in August next year, will help boost the town’s economy.

During the Network Briefing Wednesday hosted by Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar, Constantino admitted that despite the vast land area of the municipality their Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) is very small because most of the lands belong to the ancestral domain.

“Napakalawak ng aming lupain pero maliit lang yung aming IRA local dahil we can’t tax the land because of the ancestral domain limitations. So paano natin pagyayamanin ang ating munisipyo, ito ay sa pamamagitan ng pagpapalakas ng economic enterprising,” she explained.

Constantino said the infrastructure project which has been envisioned and planned since the time of his father, former Mayor Reynaldo Constantino, will be an ambitious, state of the art, modern facility.

In a report from the Malungon Information Office, Municipal Engr. Marcus Antoño Zagales said “the project that will be composed of five separate buildings will be done with 121 stalls and a primary two-storey edifice where the wet market and the supervisor’s workplace will be settled.”

The groundbreaking ceremony was done last August 28, and it is expected to be completed within the 365 calendar days period.

Meanwhile, Andanar lauds Constantino’s leadership, on how focused she is in achieving her vision for Malungon.

“You said something last week which really struck us and I will translate it, I don’t want to strike anywhere in governance kasi kayo permanente, ako hindi permanente so habang nandito pa ako I will maximize my time in achieving the vision that we want for this municipality, Mayor that showed how focus you are in your agenda for Malungon,” the Secretary said.

Constantino replied that their vision for Malungon is very ambitious and if she will not plan strategically, it will not be achieved or she will not even make a first move to make it a reality.

“Kailangan ma identify natin yung mga coping mechanisms and ma identify natin if we are moving forward  sa lahat ng mga action plans  and interventions natin especially now that we are facing the covid pandemic. If nagpa plateau tayo kailangan natin ng improvement; if nag iimprove tayo na met ba natin yung target? If wala we have to strategize para mas maging responsive tayo para sa ating mga concerns lalo na maramdaman din ng mga tao lalo na dito sa Malungon na yung gobyerno nagtatrabaho regardless of the challenges na we are facing during this pandemic,” she pointed out.
