NegOcc tops PhilHealth’s ‘No Balance Billing’ compliance

ILOILO CITY, June 30 (PIA) – A total of 15,568 or 91.45 percent of the 17,023 No Balance Billing (NBB) eligible patients in Negros Occidental availed of benefits from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) in 2019.

The province topped the PhilHealth NBB compliance in Western Visayas last year, a press release from the Public Affairs Unit of PhilHealth-6 said.

NBB eligible patients were able to enjoy the benefits of PhilHealth without paying any single centavo for their medical expenses.

PhilHealth-6 Regional Vice President lawyer Valerie Anne Hollero commended the local government units of Negros Occidental for their efforts.

“We laud the effort of the local government units in ensuring that the most vulnerable sectors of society are given adequate financial protection against health risk by strictly implementing PhilHealth’s policy on NBB,” she said.

The Binalbagan Infirmary and Cauayan District Hospital in the province were among the four government facilities in the region that were commended by PhilHealth-6 for their 100 percent NBB policy compliance.

The other two are the Pedro L. Gindap Municipal Hospital and Valderrama Municipal Hospital in Antique.

In 2019, Western Visayas recorded 59,043 NBB-eligible members, of which 82.74 percent or 48,854 patients have benefitted from the said program, the press release said.

Through NBB, members under the Indigent and Sponsored program, Senior Citizens, Lifetime members and Kasambahays are guaranteed full financial risk protection when seeking medical attention in accredited government facilities, the press release added.

Hollero urged all partner-healthcare providers to increase their compliance with the NBB policy reminding them that this is part of the hospital’s Performance Commitment. (LTP/CBA-PIA6/Public Affairs Unit-PhilHealth6)
