BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Jan. 6 (PIA) – Only one firecracker injury was recorded in the province during the celebration of the New Year, health officials here said.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Edwin Galapon said the injury was recorded in Kasibu town during the New Year’s eve.
He said the lone injury recorded in the province was a result of the ban on firecrackers by local government units.
“We hope that this will be carried on until the next New Year celebration so that injuries will be prevented,” Galapon said.
Police Colonel Ranser Evasco, police provincial director also said that no incident of indiscriminate firing among police and civilians were recorded during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
He said they have earlier issued strict guidelines to policemen to refrain from using their service firearms during the holiday season.
“We also monitored barangays on their compliance with the directive and it turned out well since no indiscriminate firing incidents were reported and monitored,” Evasco said. (MDCT/BME/PIA 2-Nueva Vizcaya)
