ODIONGAN, Romblon, Jul. 13 (PIA) — Romblon Cable Corporation (RCC) and Department of Education (DepEd)-Schools Division Office of Romblon signed a memorandum of agreement as part of its continuing efforts to deliver and enhance the learning progress of Romblomanon children, amidst these trying times of COVID-19 pandemic.

Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Maria Luisa D. Servando considered the timing of the partnership with Romblon Cable Corporation as ‘timely and relevant’. Servando said DepEd-Romblon is dedicated to collaborating with more stakeholders especially in the mass media in its keystone of promoting access to quality education and strengthening supplemental teaching.

“We are very lucky with the initiative of Romblon Cable Corporation CEO Dr. Venancio Lo for allowing DepEd Romblon to use its facilities and resources for free in broadcasting necessary virtual learning modalities. Honestly, television-based instruction is one of the mechanisms DepEd has identified for distance learning, along with printed or digital modules, and online learning resources, thus this MOA is highly significant to the department,” Superintendent Servando said.

RCC Chief Executive Officer Dr. Venancio C. Lo said, “We are committed to fulfill our corporate social responsibility and moral obligation to help the government in any way that we can especially in the field of education during these trying times.”

Romblon Cable Corporation, through its community channel and its other technological platforms, will allot eight hours per day of airtime from Monday to Friday, and will add additional channel if necessary, just to ensure that we can air and cover all the most essential learning competencies, Dr. Lo explained.
