Sara Duterte tops ’22 bets for president, vice president–survey

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte’s daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio emerged as the top choice for both President and Vice President in the 2022 elections, according to an independent survey.

In its national Tugon Ng Masa (Pulse of the Masses) survey from January 26 to February 1, Octa Research said Duterte-Carpio was on top with an average of 22 percent, with the highest support coming from Mindanao at 48 percent and socio-economic class E at 24 percent.

The survey had 1,200 respondents across the country and has a sampling error of plus-minus three percent.

She was followed by Senators Mary Grace Poe, Emmanuel Pacquiao, former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr,. Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo, and Senate President Vicente Sotto 3rd.

In the vice-presidential race, Duterte-Carpio and Domagoso are in a statistical tie for number 1 at 14 and 11 percent respectively, followed by Pacquiao, Poe, Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano, Sotto, Marcos, Go, and Sorsogon Gov. Francis Escudero.

Support for Duterte-Carpio as vice president is high in Mindanao at 23 percent, while Domagoso is the top choice in Metro Manila at 15 percent.

Re-electionists comprise majority of the 15 senatorial candidates led by Pacquiao, Escudero, Cayetano, Antique Rep. Loren Legarda, Sen. Panfilo Lacson, Marcos, Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri, former senators Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada, Jose Victor “JV” Ejercito, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian, and former senator Paolo Benigno Aquino. Domagoso, Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista and broadcaster Erwin Tulfo round up the top 15.
