CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, April 29 (PIA) — Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) turned over a total of 17,500 washable facemasks to Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The donated items were produced by TESDA training scholars in dressmaking, tailoring and industrial sewing machine operations of its Regional Training Centers in Guiguinto, Bulacan and Mariveles, Bataan and Provincial Training Centers in Calumpit, Bulacan and Guagua, Pampanga.
“Aside from the skills that the students acquired, they are also able to produce usable items while on training,” TESDA Regional Director Balymrson Valdez said.
“This is one of TESDA Region 3’s contributions to curb the spread of COVID-19 and in response to President Duterte’s directive last July 2020 for the mass production and distribution of free face masks to the public,” the official furthered.
The donated facemasks are part of the 27,000 pieces produced by the TESDA Training Centers since September 2020. Others were already distributed to barangays and community pantries.
“We have been consistently producing facemasks and other Personal Protective Equipment, and have been assisting our frontliners and the communities in need since the start of the pandemic,” Valdez furthered. (CLJD-PIA 3)
