Rabiya Mateo Wishes to Work with Alden Richards

In a recent blogcon for Rabiya Mateo, the new Kapuso and former Miss Universe Philippines revealed why she chose GMA Network and who she would want to work with in the future.

Rabiya being a Kapuso became a surprise to many because usually, those who won Binibining Pilipinas like Pia Wurtzbach, Catriona Gray, and others started their showbiz career on ABS-CBN. Part of the reason is perhaps Binibining Pilipinas and Miss Universe are being aired on the Kapamilya Network. However, Miss Universe Philippines had GMA Network as official broadcaster this year but Rabiya has other reasons why she chose to become a Kapuso.

“Before I competed in Miss Universe sa US it’s like a wondeful night because I was having dinner with Speaker Allan Cayetano and nakita ko si Ms. Anette Gozon doon and they were very good friends. So ‘nung nakita ako ni Ms. Anette she asked me if I’m willing to do acting daw, at that moment sinabi ko na ‘I’m willing naman po, I did declamation in High School and College, I don’t know if it counts pero after nun Ms. Anette was in contact na with my management under Sir Jonas Gafud and right after parang they messaged me na they wanted me to join GMA pero hindi agad agad because I really need to be careful with my existing contract under Miss Universe Philippines so it took a while pero it was a beautiful time to wait naman. Like I’m so blessed, I’m so blessed po talaga,” she shared.

Now that the Illonga beauty queen is starting her acting career, she revealed that she hopes to work with GMA’s top leading man, Alden Richards.

“Sabi ko na po dati I’m looking forward na makatrabaho si Alden Richards kahit hindi ako ‘yung leading lady niya because napanood ko ‘yung movie niya na ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’ and napahanga talaga ako sa kanya. He’s a man of art at alam niya talaga ‘yung acting, marunong talaga siya umarte and marami akong matututunan sa kanya,” she said.

It’s a proven formula that when Alden Richards is being paired with a morena, it will create magic. Alden’s team-up with Kathryn Bernardo a couple of years ago in “Hello, Love, Goodbye” exploded at the box office and it becomes the highest-grossing Filipino movie of all time. One write-up pointed out that because Alden is mestizo, when he’s being paired with a mestiza, there’s less chemistry and relatability.

Rabiya is definitely one of the up and coming stars to look out for in 2022 and we hope that GMA Network will grant her wish to work with Alden.
