Hit the road with Empty Esky and Jeep Australia
In an effort to help rebuild Australia’s fire-affected regions, Jeep Australia is partnering with Empty Esky, a not-for-profit helping to aid the recovery of communities and businesses across Australia.
Empty Esky, founded earlier this year by Eleanor Baillieu and Erin Boutros, is a national tourism movement encouraging Australians to get behind fire-affected communities by ‘filling an empty esky’ with local produce and goods from small businesses.
With the support of Jeep Australia, Empty Esky aims to rebuild local tourism industries and businesses by facilitating a simple and effective way for Australians to embark on road trips to regional towns.
In order to help rally greater community participation, Jeep Australia will support the development of the Empty Esky website, making it easier for Australians to get involved. Travellers will be able to plan their trip by downloading a pre-prepared itinerary or by creating their own route via the interactive map on the Empty Esky website.
Empty Esky Founder, Eleanor Baillieu, said the support from Jeep Australia will help both travellers and businesses. “We are incredibly excited to be working with Jeep, there’s no better partner to encourage Australia’s sense of adventure and get people on the road to lend a helping hand by filling their esky.”
Thousands of Australians have already taken the pledge to go on an Empty Esky adventure and now with the website improvements, all 500 businesses registered on the Empty Esky website will be easily identified and searched. Travellers will be able to build itineraries across all the states, ranging in length.
In late 2019 continuing into earlier this year, thousands of families lost their homes and businesses when the bushfires raged across Australia. The impact of the devastating fires also resulted in the destruction of the agriculture, produce and tourism industries that support the livelihood of many regional communities.
With the COVID-19 restrictions beginning to ease, we are excited to launch pre-prepared Empty Esky itineraries, making it even easier for Australians to hit the road and support a fire-affected community. From Jervis Bay to Kangaroo Island, there’s an Empty Esky adventure for everyone
Jeep Australia Managing Director, Kevin Flynn, said he was proud to partner with such an important, local cause.
“Together with Empty Esky, we hope all Australians will join us by hitting the road and discovering the beauty and innovation of some of the country’s most celebrated regions. To be able to give back to those affected communities through the adventure of a road trip is certainly a wonderful opportunity,”
