Just in time for the festive celebrations. Hardys latest collection of premium wines.

Just in time for the festive celebrations and the gifting season, renowned South Australian winery Hardys is proud to release its latest vintage wines across its award-winning Icon and HRB ranges including Eileen Hardy Shiraz 2018, HRB Riesling 2020, HRB Chardonnay 2019, HRB Shiraz 2017 and HRB Cabernet Sauvignon 2017.

Marking more than 165 years of winemaking heritage and over 9,000 awards, every bottle of Hardys is a symbol of certainty, providing consumers assurance in their wine choice every time. Hardys new release wines maintain the legacy of Thomas Hardy hailed as the father of the South Australian wine industry – who in 1853, against a backdrop of global uncertainty, launched a brand with an audacious goal – to craft wines ‘revered around the world’.

Hardys Head Winemaker and Master of Wine Nigel Sneyd says, “as one of Australia’s oldest and most iconic wineries, Hardys is well known for consistently crafting wines of excellence and is committed to keeping Thomas Hardy’s pioneering spirit alive.”

“The latest Icon and HRB wines represent outstanding vintages across Australia’s finest wine regions and are individual expressions of their distinct terroir. They are truly remarkable drops that embody the pinnacle of Australian winemaking. Every wine challenges the boundaries of viticulture whilst maintaining the high quality for which Hardys is renowned,” continued Sneyd.

Eileen Hardy Shiraz 2018

The Eileen Hardy range represents the significance and prestige of the incredible Hardy winemaking family. Widely regarded as the first lady of Australian wine, Eileen played a pivotal role in the enduring success of Hardys, and these wines are a tribute to her inspiring dedication.

Crafted exclusively in McLaren Vale, the Eileen Hardy Shiraz 2018 is rich, ripe with fruit and offers delicate silky tannins – like an iron fist in a velvet glove. The nose envelops the senses with vibrant aromas of chocolate, leather, black olive, plum, mulberry and blueberry. The palate provides a startling contrast of intense dark chocolate, ripe blueberry and plum; mixed in with liquorice, peat and roasted coffee beans. Enjoy the Eileen Hardy Shiraz 2018 now or cellar this majestic drop for 20 plus years to reach its full potential.

HRB New Vintage Releases

The Hardys HRB range is unique because the wines are made by blending grapes with different characteristics and from different regions. Thomas Hardy first started these regional blends in 1865 and they are still used by the winemaking team today, designed to complement and enhance the qualities of each region.

Displaying the best of both regionals, the HRB Riesling 2020 blends the fine lemon/lime and mineral tightness of Clare Valley (SA) fruit with the expressive stone fruit flavours of Tasmania. This is a beautifully balanced wine that expresses lifted citrus fruit tones over a lengthening mineral and acid structure that draws you in for another juicy sip.

The HRB Chardonnay 2019 showcases three of the best cool climate Chardonnay regions across Australia – Margaret River (WA), Pemberton (WA), Yarra Valley (VIC). A fragrant and vibrant drop, this Chardonnay offers sweet peach, nectarine and citrus flavours on the palate, beautifully balanced with the richness and creaminess of barrel fermentation and lees contact.

Also in the latest line-up of the Hardys HRB range are two impressive reds from 2017 – HRB Shiraz and HRB Cabernet Sauvignon. A truly harmonious wine, the HRB Shiraz 2017 is an example of masterful blending that highlights the greatest attributes of some of Australia’s best wine regions. Blackberry, mulberry and plum with pepper, violets, milk chocolate and liquorice fill the nose while fresh and intense fruit flavours dominate this elegant wine’s palate.

Finally, the HRB Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 is an outstanding example of a much-loved Australian varietal. This wine offers a brilliantly complex and layered palate of red and blackcurrant, plum and raspberry with subtle touches of anise, mint, cocoa and black tea. A premium red that will not disappoint.

The Eileen Hardy Shiraz 2018 (AUD $153.99) and the Hardys HRB Range (AUD $35.00) is available now from Dan Murphy’s stores Australia-wide.
