Two cult brands have collided, with the tastemakers behind TRUFF Hot Sauce, finding a temporary place on the shelf and on the menu at Sydney’s #1 sandwich shop. You best believe it’s a rarity for South Dowling to shake up their renowned menu, and with the Paisano available for one week only, we suggest you jump in the lunch line, stat.

This low-key eatery has achieved legendary status amongst inner-city locals for its simple yet enormous sandwiches on offer, that hit the spot time and time again. Paying homage to the humble lunch option this National Sandwich Day, South Dowling has taken to blending Italian culture with the rich Middle East, to create the Paisano (meaning Friend or pal) or slang for ‘brother’ in Italian).

Gird your loins, this sandwich is loaded with crispy chicken schnitzel, salami, prosciutto, pastrami, provolone, SDS’s famous caramelized carrots, roasted pepper, cucumber, rocket, balsamic vinegar, herbed mayo, and a lashing of TRUFF Hot Sauce, all home inside two fresh slices of brown or white Vienna bread.

“When National Sandwich day rolled around, we couldn’t think of anyone better or more equipped to take on the challenge and make the ultimate sambo for all hungry Sydneysiders.
