16 new COVID-19 positive cases recorded in CagVal

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, July 17 (PIA) – – The Department of Health (DOH) reported 16 new COVID-19 positive cases in the Cagayan Valley region, bringing the total to 206.

Of the newly confirmed cases, CV 191 is a 29-year-old female from Solana, Cagayan, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) from Saudi Arabia. She is asymptomatic and now at the Local Government Unit’s (LGU’s) quarantine facility.

CV 192 is a 30-year-old female from Kasibu, Nueva Vizcaya, also an OFW from Saudi Arabia. She is asymptomatic and on home quarantine.

CV 193 is a 22-year-old male from Alfonso Castañeda, Nueva Vizcaya, a Locally Stranded Individual (LSI) from Sampaloc Manila. He traveled in his hometown on July 6 but went back to Manila last July 11. He was subjected to swab test in private laboratory which turned positive. He is asymptomatic and now in a quarantine facility in Pasay City.

The next six patients were all males and residents of the City of Ilagan, Isabela but are working in a construction site in Iguig Cagayan.

They were all exposed to three of their co-workers who were earlier confirmed positive for COVID. They are: CV 194, 50-year-old; CV 195, 30-year-old; CV 196, 59-year-old; CV 197, 56-year-old; CV 198, 38-year – old; and CV 199, 32-year-old. They are all in a bunk house in Iguig town.

CV 200 is a 34-year-old male from Tuguegarao City, an LSI from Quezon City. He is asymptomatic and now at the city’s quarantine facility.

CV 201 is a 25-year-old female from Tuguegarao City, also an LSI from Makati City. She experienced loss of senses of smell and taste since July 14. She is now at the city’s quarantine facility.

CV 202 is a 43-year-old male from Dupax Del Norte, Nueva Vizcaya, an LSI from Mandaluyong City. He is also asymptomatic and now at the LGU’s quarantine facility.

CV 203 is 36-year-old male from Tuao, Cagayan, also an LSI from Quezon City. He experienced cough and colds and now at the LGU’s quarantine facility.

CV 204 is a 24-year-old female from Peñablanca, Cagayan, an LSI from Bicutan, Taguig. She experienced fever and loss of senses of taste and smell. She is now at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center.

CV 205 is a one-year-old female from Camalaniugan, Cagayan and so far the youngest among the confirmed cases of region 2. She was exposed to her parents who are also positive for COVID. She is now admitted at the Matilde A. Olivas District Hospital.

CV 206 is a 26-year-old female from Iguig, Cagayan, also an LSI from Quezon City. She is asymptomatic but transferred to CVMC because she gave birth yesterday. The child was tested negative of the virus.

Llester Guzman, health education and promotions officer, said of the 206 cases, five case codes were transferred to National Capital Region where the patients reside.

As of now, Guzman said contact tracing is being conducted by concerned health and local officials to determine the close contacts of the newly tested positive cases. (MDCT/OTB/PIA 2-Cagayan)
