29 arrested inside QC resto-bar

A Quezon City restaurant and bar is facing closure after a combined team of police and personnel of Task Force Disiplina (Discipline) arrested 29 people, including its owner and two minors, for violating general community quarantine (GCQ) protocols on Friday night.

Rannie Ludovica, TF Disiplina head, said he recommended the immediate closure of Karosa Resto-bar in Novaliches after the raid.

Among the 29 were 17 and 19-year-olds and 10 resto-bar employees, Ludovica told The Manila Times in a text message.

“They were charged before the City Prosecutor’s Office through electronic-inquest proceedings for violating GCQ guidelines,” Ludovica said.

After receiving a tip from a concerned citizen, Ludovica said they conducted surveillance on the resto-bar where they found out that a birthday party was being held inside with people drinking alcohol.

He said his task force personnel and members of the Quezon City Police District arrested the party-goers who claimed they were not aware that the resto-bar was not allowed to operate.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for Emerging Infectious Diseases has allowed dine-in establishments to operate at a reduced capacity but not those with bars in areas under GCQ.

A hundred people, including actor KC Montero, were arrested in June at a resto-bar in Makati City.
