Agricultural cooperatives to augment products for DSWD food packs
QUEZON CITY, July 5 (PIA) –The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) forged partnership to engage the agricultural cooperative as source of products for the Family Food Packs (FFPs), which are being distributed to identified communities and beneficiaries.
Under the agreement between DSWD and CDA, the latter will provide the list of primaries and federations of agricultural cooperatives and coordinate transactions between cooperatives and DSWD representatives.
In the ensuing months, food packs will be expected to contain food products from the agricultural sector.
This initiative will mobilize cooperatives to contribute to the availability of food and products for communities in support to the call of the food security by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID) during the COVID-19 national emergency.
To seal the partnership, both agencies agreed to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) together with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the Department of Budget and Management, through the Government Procurement Policy Board (DBM-GPPB) in conformity with the Declaration of Policy under Section 2 of Republic Act. No. 11321 known as “The Sagip Saka Act”. (MBP/PIA-IDPD/CDA)
