A total of 8,346 bags of urea fertilizers, certified inbred seeds for 1,481 hectares and hybrid seeds for 50 hectares were turned-over to the local government unit of Jamindan town on June 26, a press release from the DA said.
Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund’s (RCEF) certified inbred seeds from Philippine Rice Research Institute for 869 hectares were already distributed to farmers.
The farmer-beneficiaries need to present empty sacks of their purchased fertilizer, official receipt, empty sack of rice seed, RSBSA stub and valid ID to receive the fertilizer subsidy from the Municipal Agriculture Office.
“In other region, the farmer-beneficiary is selling their fertilizer that they received from the national government,” DA Western Visayas Regional Executive Director Remelyn R. Recoter said during the ceremonial turn-over.
The RRP’s inputs subsidy is under DA’s Plant, Plant, Plant Program (Agri-4Ps) also known as the Ahon Lahat, Pagkaing Sapat (ALPAS) Kontra COVID-19 which aims to boost the local rice production amidst COVID-19 pandemic.
“Subong nga may pandemya, tama gid ka importante ang mga mangunguma. Kamo ang naga pakaon sa amon (During this time of pandemic, farmers are very important because you are the one who are feeding us),” Capiz Governor Esteban Contreras said to the farmers of Jamindan during the event.
