Coast guard lauds support of auxiliary group amid pandemic

PASIG CITY, July 3 (PIA) – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has lauded the PCG Auxiliary for supporting coast guard personnel amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

PCG Commandant Vice Admiral George V. Ursabia, Jr. lauded the PCG Auxiliary (PCGA) for generously supporting the operations of the coast guard’s Task Group Bayanihan in ensuring a safe, comfortable, and convenient quarantine and repatriation of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) amid the pandemic.

PCG’s Auxiliary through “Oplan Bayanihah”has donated kitchen wares, cooking equipment, and food supplies such as rice, dressed chicken, pork meat, eggs, and drinking water for the daily needs of OFWs who are waiting for their RT-PCR test results at the Eva Macapagal Quarantine Facility, Port Area, Manila.

Vice Admiral Ursabia expressed his utmost gratitude to the PCGA for their significant contributions to uphold public health and safety while the nation continues its fight against the contagious virus.

The PCG and PCGA are proactively working with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to ensure that OFWs at said quarantine facility are well nourished and provided with regular health check-ups to achieve their optimum wellness, before they finally reunite with their loved ones.
