DOLE 12 grants P1.2 million livelihood assistance to 98 Lambayong individuals

LAMBAYONG, Sultan Kudarat, July 12 – In its bid to help ease the effect of COVID-19 pandemic to informal and displaced individuals in the region, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 12 released the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) check amounting to P1,272,329.50 to 98 individuals of the municipality of Lambayong, this province on 09 July 2020.

DOLE 12 Regional Director Raymundo Agravante led the ceremonial release of livelihood check together with Brgy. Captain Nendel Ricafort of the Local Government Unit of Mamali as the department’s Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) while Lambayong Mayor Ferdinand Agduma and DOLE-Sultan Kudarat Field Office Head Mary Jane Hoksuan acted as witnesses.

Beneficiaries were mostly self-employed with insufficient income, women, youth, senior citizens, parents/guardians of child laborers, and displaced workers chose varied livelihood start-up like auto mechanic, food vendings, carpentry, carenderia, carwash services, vulcanizing, welding, hollow block making, among others.

Mayor Agduma in his message vowed to improve their supervision and monitoring efforts during the program implementation. “Asahan niyo pong pagbubutihin namin ang supervision at monitoring ng programa sa aming bayan.”

“The department will continue to assist our vulnerable sectors and displaced workers to help them recover economically after this pandemic season. We also hope that their business venture will grow and become sustainable even after this pandemic end,” Agravante said.

DILP is a flagship program of the DOLE which seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers either through emergency employment, promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises. (CDGamboa/KForcadilla)
