Ifugao councils check on road project, reported forest clearing
TINOC, Ifugao, July 4 (PIA) – – Members of the Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (PTF-ELCAC) and Provincial Anti-Illegal Logging Task Force (PAILTF) conducted a joint aerial reconnaissance in the province recently to check the progress of road construction project and reported illegal clearing of forest land.
The group was composed by Governor Jerry Dalipog, 54th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, Ifugao Police Provincial Office (IPPO), Provincial Environmental and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), and Tactical Operations Group – 2 of the Philippine Air Force (PAF).
The team went to check the progress of the road construction that will connect the municipality of Asipulo, Ifugao and Ambaguio, Nueva Vizcaya. This road project is the result of the effort of the TF-ELCAC which aims to develop the said areas. These areas were previously the stronghold of the New People’s Army and was cleared by 54IB in 2019.
They also monitored the reported illegal clearing of forest land in the municipalities of Asipulo and Tinoc.
Dalipog expressed his appreciation to the 54IB led by its newly installed battalion commander Lt. Col. Franz Josef Diamante for helping maintain the peace and order in Ifugao. “The province of Ifugao will soon prosper because the developmental and livelihood programs of the government through the TF-ELCAC,” he added.
Diamante expressed his appreciation to the governor for his active role in bringing peace and development in Ifugao. He also thanked the governor for all the support he has extended to the battalion that led to the defeat of the communist terrorist in the province.
‘’Peace and development can be attained if all stakeholders will work together to fight the NPAs who have been terrorizing the country for 50 years. The province of Ifugao is a classic example of the Whole-Of-Nation Approach of fighting the NPA wherein all sectors of the society join hands,” the battalion commander stated.
