LGU-Midsayap pushes for more accessible potable water sources
MIDSAYAP, Cotabato Province, June 30 (PIA)— The local government unit here is intensifying the provision of accessible water supply, particularly in far-flung areas through implementation of water system projects
Last year, the municipality has recorded at least 18 barangays where potable water system projects were implemented and completed. These barangays include Bual Sur, Bual Norte, Lomopog, Bagumba, Sadaan, Tugal, Milaya, Bitoka, Sta. Cruz, Lower Katingawan, Sadaan, Upper Glad I, Agriculture, Sambulawan, Central Glad, Malamote, Kapinpilan, Palongoguen, and Kadingilan.
Also, the LGU initiated the rehabilitation of potable water system in the barangays of Upper Glad I, Upper Glad II, Anonang, and Palongoguen and expansion of the level II potable water system in Milaya.
These projects were funded through the 20% Economic Development Fund for 2019 of the LGU.
Aside from these projects, the Department of the Interior and Local Government XII also implemented potable water supply projects through its Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat (SALINTUBIG) Program in the town last year.
These projects were implemented in the barangays of Damatulan, Kadigasan, Kimagango, Kiwanan, Olandang, Palongoguen, Patindeguen, Tumbras, and Malamote.
SALINTUBIG Program aims to provide water systems to waterless communities through financial assistance, along with improving the capacities of local government units and their water service providers in managing water supply systems in a sustainable manner through capacity development activities.
Aside from the nine barangays, the SALINTUBIG Program was also implemented in different barangays of Midsayap few years ago. This is because water systems remain to be one of the top priorities of the local government unit in order to bring accessible potable water supply to residents in far-flung communities and waterless villages.
