Olivarez orders arrest of quarantine violators

PARAÑAQUE City Mayor Edwin Olivarez ordered the police chief and village chairmen to strictly enforce the implementation of health protocols as the Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases in the city continued to rise.

Olivarez directed PCol. Robin King Sarmiento to file charges against negligent parents who allow their children to go out in public without face masks and during curfew hours.

He also ordered all police block commanders to apprehend minors violating curfew hours and the city ordinance on the wearing of face masks amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

“[Y]ou are hereby directed to ensure the strict enforcement and to exercise full vigilance in the implementation of the health standards on the use of face masks, strict physical distancing, crowding on public places and in all major streets,” Olivarez said in his order to Sarmiento.

From July 12-14, the city has logged a total of 176 confirmed Covid cases.

As of posting time, Paranaque has tallied a total of 1,851 confirmed cases, of which 1,000 have recovered and 71 have died.
