SPPO Sarangani, PDEA strengthen partnership against illegal drugs
ALABEL, Sarangani, July 8 –The Sarangani Provincial Police Office (SPPO) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Sarangani are strengthening their partnership towards a more effective and intensified war against Illegal drug activities in the province amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last week, PDEA Sarangani initiated the conduct of the two-day refresher course on drug investigation and RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 which was participated by different police investigators in the province at the Kasfala Hall, Capitol Compound here.
Investigators from the seven Municipal Police Stations of the province, investigators from the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, and from the Provincial Investigation and Detection Management Unit, all under SPPO attended the event with SPPO Officer-in-charge, Police Colonel Michael Lebanan as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.
The refresher course aims to enhance the knowledge of the participants on drug investigation and the proper execution of drug operations in accordance with Section 21, Article II of RA 9165.
Lebanan emphasized the importance of an inter-agency effort and the strengthening of synergy so that both agencies may perform their respective roles with improved awareness, revitalized professionalism, and unwavering resolve to battle the persistent enemy.
From January to June 30, 2020, SPPO in coordination with PDEA-Sarangani recorded the conduct of 84 positive drug operations that resulted in one death and the arrest of 77 drug personalities, and the confiscation of an estimated 102 grams of shabu and Marijuana. (Sarangani-PPO)
