Catch a glimpse of GMC’s Sierra Denali electric pickup truck in new teaser
On the heels of its beast-like, Biden-approved Hummer EV, GM has another EV bet.
The automaker teased its next entry into the EV marketplace, an all-electric GMC Sierra Denali pickup truck, in an 18-second video that gave a hat tip to its Hummer EV, which will come as both a pickup and an SUV. While the all-electric Hummer shocked us, we should be prepared to be awed by the Sierra EV, the marketing copy warns. The pickups and SUV are part of GM’s $35 billion push into electric and autonomous vehicles.
But by the time the Sierra EV pickup goes into production in 2023, it will be met with an ever-growing cadre of competition, including the Ford F-150 Lightning, Rivian R1T, the Bollinger B2, and Tesla’s Cybertruck (although Tesla has been wishy-washy in regards to Cybertruck production plans). GM will also debut an all-electric Chevy Silverado pickup in January at CES in Las Vegas, with production slated for 2023. Toyota has its sights set on an electric pickup truck as well, showing off a concept vehicle this week in Japan.
The Sierra EV teaser focuses on the truck’s grille, with the headlights creating a halo of bright light in the darkness. GM has yet to share many details about the truck.
