Disney’s classic songs are now lo-fi beats to relax/study to
Disney has released an album of lo-fi instrumental covers of some of their classic songs, creating a collection of nostalgic beats for you to relax/study to. They’re even accompanied by a looping animation of Minnie Mouse studying — clearly inspired by YouTuber ChilledCow’s famous Study Girl from “lofi hip hop radio – beats to relax/study to.”
Released on Friday, Lofi Minnie: Focus adapts 10 songs from Disney films into chill lo-fi tunes, from The Lion King‘s “Hakuna Matata” and “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King,” to Frozen 2‘s “Into The Unknown.” It’s a fairly short playlist at only 24 minutes long, but perhaps it’s for the best that songs such as Encanto‘s “Surface Pressure” didn’t make the cut.
Each track was produced by a different lo-fi artist, with contributors including Purrple Cat, Philanthrope, and Krynoze.
“What attracted us to lo-fi is the ability to reimagine our songs in a completely new way that combines the soothing benefits of lo-fi with the wonder and nostalgia that Disney has to offer,” said Disney in a statement. “Lo-fi and Disney are both a great source of comfort, so the two make for a perfect match.”
All 10 lo-fi Disney songs are divided into their own YouTube clips and collected into a playlist, meaning your relaxation will probably be interrupted by a loud ad for Grammarly more than once. Fortunately, Lofi Minnie: Focus is also available on Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music, letting you chill out to “A Whole New World” on whichever platform you’ve already paid to remove ads on.
