She’ll do it again: Yasmien Kurdi has no regrets about taking a break from her career

“Kung babalikan ko ang mga panahon na ‘yon, yes po, magla-lie low pa rin po ako noong panahon na iyon,” admitted Yasmien Kurdi on Thursday, December 23 after being asked if she regretted taking a hiatus from her showbiz career.

In the virtual media conference following her contract renewal with GMA Artist Center, Kurdi pointed that taking a “breather” from work is important.

“Kasi ang importante kasi sa isang trabaho ay masaya ka. Para mas mag-stay ka pa dito sa industry na ‘to, para mas tumagal ka pa. Pero kung dumarating na sa point ng life mo na hindi ka masaya during those times, you have to rest, kailangan mo munang huminga,” she said.

The actress, in 2011, took a two-year break from show business to concentrate on her studies and create a family of her own with husband Rey Soldevilla.

“And during those times, ang dami kong realizations in life, nahanap ko ang sarili ko and at the same time nagka-Ayesha ako, nakapag-asawa ako.

She reiterated that she has no regrets regarding her decision. She can’t complain because of the blessings she received.

“So wala po akong pinagsisihan noong mga panahon na ‘yon and I’m really happy kasi ang daming achievement sa life ko, ang daming nangyari na magagandang blessings. I think kailangan ‘yon ng mga tao eh. Kailangan minsan na huminga, mag-breathe para mas magawa mo ang trabaho mo ng mas maayos.”

In the meantime, Kurdi’s child, Ayesha Zara, is also growing up after her mother. According to the actress, her daughter has taken an interest in digital content making and could be a host in the future.

“Alam nyo si Ayesha she’s a natural kasi. Walang script script ‘yan. Sabihin mo lang ang thought dere-deretso s’ya. Para siyang machine na puro words, ganoon. Ang dami niyang content, ang dami niyang idea. So I guess yun ang talent niya. Ang galing niya magsalita.”

Currently, she is part of the Afternoon Prime’s show Las Hermanas.

According to her, she gives all of her time to her family after she returns from tapings.

“I make sure na ibigay ko ang panahon ko 100%. Lagi akong nandoon for them kasi kailangan kong sulitin ang panahon na kasama ko sila. Dahil alam ko na babalik ako sa locked-in namin.”
