DSWD: No more SAP second tranche for Quirino

CABARROGUIS, Quirino, July 8 (PIA)—Department of Social Welfare and Development Undersecretary Rene Glen Paje, said Quirino which is now under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ) is no longer eligible to receive the second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program.

 Guesting at the Laging Handa Network Briefing, USec Paje said USec. Paje said only 11 areas will be given second tranche, namely: Region III except Aurora Province, National Capital Region, Region IV-A, provinces of Benguet, Pangasinan, Iloilo, Cebu Province, Albay Province, and cities of Bacolod, Davao, and Zamboanga City.

 The undersecretary said that areas under GCQ like Quirino Province would not receive aid, as work and basic community systems have already resumed operations.

 USec Paje said  those who were left out during the distribution of the first tranche of the SAP and were already included in the list of the LGUs  submitted last May 29 are part of  the second tranche.

 Usec Paje  assured that there are other programs of DSWD that people in need may approach such Social Pension,  Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS).

AICS is part of the DSWD’s protective services for the poor, marginalized and vulnerable/disadvantaged individuals.

SocPen on the other hand is a program under Republic Act No. 9994 or the “Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010” which provides monthly stipend amounting to PHP500 to indigent senior citizens to augment their daily subsistence and other medical needs.

It is distributed on a semestral basis at PHP3,000 per semester or PHP500 per month for six months to senior citizens who are frail, sickly or with disability; without any pension from other government agencies; and without a permanent source of income or source of financial assistance/compensation to support their basic needs.
