Talisay City SK chairperson lauds youth’s cooperation to COVID-19 response efforts

CEBU CITY, July 15 (PIA) — Amid the increasing cases of COVID-19 in Talisay City, the city’s Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federated Chairperson, Madeleine Dela Torre, thanked the Talisaynon youth for their proactive support to the measures implemented by the national and local government.

During last Friday’s Network Briefing hosted by Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Sec. Martin Andanar, Dela Torre discussed the different initiatives the SK Federation of Talisay City has undertaken in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Transitioning from various quarantine levels is not easy. However, I am thankful to our Talisaynon youth for adjusting to our imposed quarantine regulations, this is already a great help to the government,” Dela Torre said.

She also shared that as early as March, she has issued a memorandum circular directing the city’s SK chairpersons to realign their budget that were initially intended for youth activities, such as summer leagues, to more important expenditures such as purchasing personal protective equipment (PPE).

Since April, the city’s SK Federation has also conducted several augmentation support activities to the city government such as distribution of hygiene kits for frontline workers and assistance to relief goods distribution.

Acknowledging how active the youth is on social media, Dela Torre shared that they also went high on their social media campaign in promoting responsible sharing of information about COVID-19.

“I urge all Talisaynons, especially our youth, to continue cooperating with the implemented measures against COVID-19. Instead of possibly getting infected or spreading the virus when going out, please stay at home and spread verified information to help save lives,” she said. (jktm/PIA7)
